He graduated from Louisiana State University with a degree in Journalism in 1969. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 1972. He studied creative writing at Florida State University from 1982-1985 under Jerry Stern and Janet Burroway. The author is married to Helen Diane Townsend of The Plains, Louisiana. They live with three dogs and one turtle on ninety-six acres on the north shore of Round Bay in Franklin County, Florida. Their land is dedicated to wildlife assistance and conservation. The family is a financial supporter of The Franklin County Humane Society and St. Joe Wildlife Rescue and urges your consideration of these two special organizations.
“My goals are to promote the lawful, ethical and responsible treatment of all wildlife and to support additions to our treasury of public wildlands as befits The Forgotten Coast’s unique and irreplaceable bio-diversity. “My hope is that these images and stories remind you of the urgent need to protect and nurture the heart and soul of Florida’s Forgotten Coast, its wild creatures in their wild places. They have nowhere left to go.” |
